Weekend Watch - Sept. 29-Oct. 1
Another slow weekend at home for the Weekend Watch staff but
there is still plenty of meaningful road action to
follow.

This Weekend's
Home Showcase Event
Volleyball vs. St. Mary's - Saturday @ 1
p.m.
The Cobber volleyball has won four straight matches
– all in the MIAC – and will be looking to continue
their hot ways when they host St. Mary’s on Saturday at 3
p.m. in Memorial Auditorium. Even though it is the only home event
of the weekend, it will still be a huge match for the Cobbers as
they hope to remain unbeaten in conference play. The Cardinals
enter the weekend with a 2-1 mark in league play and a 7-5 mark in
all matches.
Concordia will be looking to continue their Memorial Auditorium
Magic this season. Last year Concordia went 12-1 in “The
Barn” and this year they are 2-0. CC has gone 23-2 in their
last 25 matches in Memorial Auditorium. That’s a .920 winning
percentage for those of you scoring at home!
Saturday,
Sept. 29
Saturday will start bright and early for the Cobber cross country
and golf teams. The men's and women's cross country teams will
compete in their biggest meet of the season. The annual Roy Griak
Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota is a great
chance for the CC harriers to test themselves against the best
runners, and teams, from all over the region. It was just two
years ago that Tom Sederquist provided one of the best moments in
Cobber men’s cross country history when he won the individual
title at the 2012 meet.
Like the Cobber cross country teams, the men’s and
women’s golf teams will also face tough regional competition.
The men’s golf team will compete in the Twin Cities Classic
hosted by Gustavus. This regionally-significant tournament usually
comes after the MIAC Championship Meet but this year it has been
moved to the weekend before the conference meet and will provide CC
a great measuring stick as to where they are heading into the MIAC
Meet. The women’s team also heads to a tournament hosted by
Gustavus. Concordia will head to southern Minnesota to play in the
Gustavus Fall Invite at Le Sueur Country Club.
The men’s and women’s soccer teams hit the highway for
their longest road trip of the conference season. Concordia will
head to Winona to square off against St. Mary’s with the
women playing at 1 p.m. and the men at 3 p.m. The men’s game
should be the most dramatic as both teams are fighting to make
their way up the conference table.
Sunday, Sept.
30
For the third straight week, Sunday is set aside for the men's and
women's golf teams. The women's team finishes up the Gustavus Fall
Invite at the North Links Golf Course while the men's team plays in
the second round at the Twin Cities Classic at the always-tough Elk
River Country Club.
Monday, Oct.
1
The men's golf team finishes off the three-day weekend by
completing the Twin Cities Classic. The Cobbers will open the month
of October by hitting the sticks around the Rush Creek Golf Course
in Maple Grove.
