Weekend Watch - Sept. 15-16
The Weekend Watch staff sets the stage for another exciting
weekend of Cobber athletic events. With only one home game, Cobber
Nation might have to make a few road trips to keep up with all the
CC teams.

This Weekend's
Home Showcase Event
Men's Soccer vs. Gustavus - 1 p.m. - The Jake Soccer
Field
Since it is the only home event of the weekend, the men's soccer
game against regionally-ranked Gustavus gets the nod for "Must See"
Cobber action. The men's soccer team is one of the surprise teams
of the fall so far. Ben Schneweis' crew is 4-2-0 on the year, is
1-0-0 in conference play and has recorded four shutouts on the
year. Gustavus, an MIAC playoff participant from last year, is
ranked No.7 in the latest NSCAA North Region poll and will give the
upstart Cobbers a true test of where they are at in the early
stages of conference play.
Saturday, Sept.

The Northfield area will be the preferred location for four of the
Cobber teams this weekend. The men's and women's cross country
teams will get the weekend started by competing at the St. Olaf
Invite beginning at 10 a.m. The scenic course, which winds through
the St. Olaf campus, is also the site of the NCAA Regional
Meet.
Fans can then head down the hill and take in the annual "Troll
Bowl" between the Cobber Ole football teams. Played for the ugliest
rivalry trophy in all of college football, this year's game kicks
off the MIAC season.
The women's golf team is also in Northfield area as they will
compete in the DIII Midwest Classic hosted by Carleton at the Jewel
Golf Course in Lake City (a scant 59 miles down US-52 and US-63
from Northfield).
The men's golf team plays in one of the toughest events of the fall
when they participatein the St. John's Fall Invite. The tournament
sets the stage for MIAC and NCAA regional rankings. Saturday's
opening round is at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Sartell at 11
a.m.
Finally, the CC women's soccer team earns the "Road Warrior" award
for the weekend as they play at Gustavus in St. Peter. The Cobbers
are 3-1-1 on the year and will be looking to go to 2-0-0 in
conference when they kick off against the Gusties at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, Sept.
16
The men's and women's golf teams are the only CC teams in action
as they finish off their tournaments. The men's team plays in the
second round of the St. John's Invite which will be held at
Greystone Golf Course in Sauk Centre. The women's team returns to
The Jewel GC to complete the DIII Midwest Classic.
