MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/29/12)—
A pair of Concordia teams will host MIAC playoff games this week. The Cobber volleyball team will square off against Bethel on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. in Memorial Auditorium and the women’s soccer team will face St. Ben’s on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex.

Tickets for both contests will be $7 for adults and $3 for any student. Children age five-years-old and younger will be admitted free of charge. Only MIAC passes will be accepted at the gate – no other regular-season pass will be honored. The Cobber Athletic Department has purchased 150 student tickets so that the first 150 Concordia students that present their student ID will get in for free.

Both contests will feature live statistics. The volleyball match will also have a live video feed. All live broadcasts can be accessed through gocobbers.com.

The Concordia volleyball team will be making its 12th consecutive appearance in the conference postseason tournament. They are one of three MIAC teams to earn a spot in every league playoffs since the MIAC went to a single-elimination format in 2001.

The Cobbers are the reigning MIAC Tournament champions. CC defeated St. Thomas in last year’s title match. Concordia is 12-10 in all matches and 7-4 in conference play. They finished in a tie for third place and are the No.3 seed for the playoffs. They will face No.6 seed Bethel in the quarterfinal match on Tuesday. Concordia downed the Royals 3-1 in their regular-season contest in Moorhead on Sept. 19.

The Concordia women’s soccer team is the 2012 MIAC regular-season champions and will have home-field advantage for the length of their stay in the conference tournament. The Cobbers are making their 10th straight appearance in the MIAC postseason – the longest streak of any school in the conference.

The Cobbers went 10-1 in MIAC play this season and won the league title by a full three games. CC also went 14-3-1 in their 18 total games. The 14 overall wins are the most since 2009 and the 10 league victories match the school-record total from 2009 and 2004.

CC will square off against St. Ben’s on Wednesday at 2 p.m. It is a rematch of last year’s playoff title game which the Blazers won by a 1-0 score. The teams also played in the 2012 regular-season finale with Concordia coming away with a 2-1 double overtime win.
