Cobber Week In Review - By The Numbers
MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/15/12)—The Cobber
sports information department isn’t above stealing borrowing good
ideas when it comes to dealing out information so we thought we
would add a new feature and take a look at the highlights of the
past week - by the numbers.
.392: The Concordia volleyball team hit .392 in
their 3-0 non-conference win over Macalester on Wednesday. That is
a season high and helped CC move to 5-2 in the MIAC this season.
4: The Concordia Athletic Department inducted
four into the Hall of Fame on Saturday. This year’s inductees
included two-time All-MIAC men’s basketball player
Darrel Pederson ‘86, All-American football
player Terry Storm ‘89, two-time
All-American women’s golfer Kari (Walrath)
Ehlers ’96 and former men’s and women’s
basketball coach and current men’s and women’s golf
coach Duane Siverson.
4.5: Senior linebacker Jordan
Doschadis had 4.5 tackles for a loss in Concordia’s
63-14 win over Hamline on Saturday. That ties the school record
held by Clinton Strother who also had 4.5 tackles
for a loss in a game against Hamline in 2007.
5: Junior women’s cross country runner
Hannah Knickerbocker has led the Cobbers in all
five meets this season. On Friday she finished third at the Jimmie
Invite and helped Concordia win the team title.
6: The Concordia men’s soccer team beat
Hamline 3-0 on Saturday to run their season win total to 6. That is
one more victory than the team had in all of 2011.
8: Freshman men’s golfer Landon
Poss finished in a tie for 8th place at the MIAC
Championship Meet and earned All-Conference honors. He becomes only
the third golfer since 2004 to earn All-MIAC honors as a freshman
(Drew Dvorak ’04, Andrew
Whitchurch ’09).
10: The Cobber women’s soccer team beat
regionally-ranked UW-Eau Claire 1-0 on Sunday to earn their
10th win of the season. That marks the 10th straight
year Concordia has won at least 10 games in a season.
26: The Cobber women’s swimming and diving
team opened its season by hosting their annual Alumni Meet on
Sunday. Concordia will open their season in earnest on Oct. 26 with
a roster of 26 athletes.
36: Women’s soccer goalie Ali
Nelson recorded her 36th career shutout of the
season in CC’s 1-0 win over UW-Eau Claire on Sunday. That
ties the school record for career blankings set by Britt
Reiersgord from 2005-08.
63: The Cobber football team put up 63 points in
their win over Hamline. That is the most in a single game since the
2002 season when the Cobbers beat St. Thomas 63-21 in the final
game of the year.
84: Seth Lage returned a kickoff
84 yards for a touchdown in the Cobbers’ Homecoming win over
Hamline. That is the fourth longest kick return in school history
and only the second time since 2007 that a CC player has gone
“to the house” on a kick return.
