Senior Salute - David Youngs

The Cobber "Senior Salute" series is a way to honor all the Concordia spring sports athletes who had their senior season come to an abrupt halt. We want to highlight one senior each day to thank them for all their hard work, dedication and Cobber spirit they have show over their careers in maroon and gold.

What is one of the top things you will miss about being a Cobber athlete?
The strong sense of community among teams. Some of my closest friends consisted of teammates and other Cobber Athletes because of how tight-knit the athletic community is.

What is something you are going to miss about Concordia College – away from athletics?
The people. From Sharon in Dining Service to Cindy Larson-Casselton in the Comm department, there are so many genuine people at Concordia. I've also found my best friends at this school. I was lucky enough to meet a group of buds that I will be able to call friends the rest of my life.

What is one of your favorite highlights/memories from your time playing athletics/being with your team?
Getting the chance to play an exhibition doubles match against French Open champion Luke Jensen freshman year with my doubles partner Isaac Toivonen. Some of the most fun I've ever had on the tennis court.

What is one of your favorite memories from Concordia away from athletics?
My freshman year on the East Side of campus. We found just about every way to avoid homework whether it was the inaugural Roll Cobbs Fantasy Football draft or the Grant Center 500 chair race on the third floor. It was a great way to build wonderful friendships. 

What are your post-graduation plans?
I'll hopefully find a few tennis leagues, play some jazz trombone on the side and will be moving to the Twin Cities to start my new job. I will be working in Minneapolis as a Marketing and Media Coordinator at Bleachr, a company that makes the app for tennis tournaments around the world, professional baseball teams, and a variety of colleges. I’m excited for the opportunity to incorporate my love of tennis into my career!
