Golden Cobb Award Winners 2020

MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/16/20)---The 8th annual Golden Cobbs award ceremony was unlike any other as it was hosted via video on the Cobber Athletics YouTube page due to the coronavirus. While the in-person atmosphere was lacking, the enthusiasm, energy and passion for the annual celebration was the same as any other Golden Cobbs night.

The Golden Cobbs, which is a year-end celebration of all the great accomplishments from the past calendar year in Cobber athletics, was an uplifting ceremony that highlighted all the tremendous Cobber student/athletes, coaches, teams and alumni.

The awards ceremony featured nine different category winners. In addition to the awards voted on by fans, family and friends – achievements in academics by the Concordia student/athletes were also recognized.

For the second straight year the Golden Cobbs featured the Jaynie Halvorson Service Award. The honor is named after former Cobber women's basketball player Jaynie Halvorson and is awarded to the Concordia team with the most volunteer impact in the Fargo-Moorhead community. This year’s recipient was the Cobber women’s soccer team who logged over 300 service hours and helped over 10 different agencies in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

This year's Bucky Burgau Impact Award was awarded to former Cobber men’s hockey players Max Smith and Andrew Deters who helped start, and continue to run, the InSports Foundation which helps kids participate in sports by providing financial assistance and sporting opportunities.
