500 For 500 Challenge

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/15/16)-- Concordia Interim Director of Athletics Rachel Bergeson announced the creation of the “500 for 500” fundraising drive. The 500 for 500 initiative is a Cobber Athletics Team Impact Fund Raising Campaign. It is an annual effort with the primary goal of enhancing the student-athlete experience at Concordia.

The goal of the campaign is to have 500 donors gifting for over 500 student-athletes at $500 annually. The “500 for 500” platform is trying to reach out to former Cobber student-athletes, their families, and friends of athletics as well as potential new donors.

This new fund raising initiative will assist in ensuring competitive success, broaden all student-athlete experiences and ensure that Concordia is a leader in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

“As a former Cobber student-athlete, a former Cobber coach and now as a Cobber athletic administrator I am indebted to the experience athletics provided me,” Bergeson stated. “Now more than ever I value the role of athletics and ask you to be a difference maker in the lives of all of our student-athletes through your financial support.”

“Our ability to remain competitive among the elite competitors in the MIAC will be dependent upon our ability to match their commitment. By joining our “500 for 500” endeavor alumni, family and friends will create the foundation to move us toward this commitment.”

“The outcome of $250,000 given by 500 donors at $500 annually for 4 years will create opportunities for today’s athletes that proudly wear the maroon and gold. The future for our student/athletes will be bright,” Bergeson added.

Anyone wanting more information about the campaign is encouraged to contact Joe Christianson, Assistant Athletic Director for Development at: jchris27@cord.edu or by clicking on the donor button on gocobbers.com.
