MEN’S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
CHAD JOHNSON – So., Glyndon, Minn./Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton HS
Chad Johnson had a career high in rushing yards and scored three touchdowns in the Cobber football team’s 56-24 win over Augsburg on Saturday.

Johnson rushed for 133 yards on 17 carries in the win. He averaged 7.8 yards per carry. Both his rushing total and yards per carry totals were career highs. Johnson also had one reception on the day.  Johnson scored the team’s second TD of the day on an 18-yard run. He also had a 2-yard scoring plunge in the third quarter and then capped his day with another 18-yard strike in the fourth quarter.

Johnson's 133 rushing yards helped Concordia post their tp rushing total of the season as the Cobbers grund out 347 yards on the day.

Johnson now has team-high 418 rushing yards on the season. He is averaging 6.1 yards per carry and 59.7 yards per game. His biggest contribution to the team has come around the goal line where he has a team best nine touchdowns. His 54 points is fifth best in the MIAC this year.

WOMEN’S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ALEXANDRA JONES
– So., Minneapolis, Minn./Shakopee HS
Alexandra Jones picked the perfect time of the season to start scoring in her college career. Jones entered last week without a goal during her time at Concordia. She then scored a goal in each of the Cobbers’ games last week including the game winner against St. Benedict on Saturday in a must-win situation.

Jones, one of the team’s starting central midfielders this year, played in only 13 games last year. She has flourished with more game time in 2015 and her confidence showed in the first game of the week at Augsburg. Jones scored her first collegiate goal at the 6-minute mark against the Auggies. She buried a shot from 25 yards out to give CC an early 1-0 lead over the defending conference tournament champions.

Jones proved her first goal wasn’t a fluke when she connected on the game winner against the Blazers. The Cobbers needed a win against St. Benedict to keep their playoff hopes alive and Jones provided the catalyst for the victory when she scored at 24:10 of the first half. Once again it was a shot from outside 15 yards. Her low laser found the bottom left corner and pushed CC to the win.
