Welcome to the 2014-15 Cobber athletic seasons season!
The Cobber sports teams began the preseason on Friday, Aug. 15 and the gocobbers.com staff is ready to document all the action and practice sessions as the Concordia fall sports teams get ready to start their seasons.
Fans can check back on this page for the latest videos, picture galleries and feature articles!

The rest of Friday was spent dealing with ALS Ice Bucket Challenge videos and eventually making one of our own. Many Cobber coaches and players have joined the cause which goes to fund ALS research and support for the ALSA in dealing with patients who have Lou Gehrig's disease. You don't need to do the ice bucket challenge to donate to the cause. Just go to: www.alsa.org and click on the Ice Bucket Challenge link.
We posted football coach Terry Horan's Ice Bucket Challenge video earlier in the week so we thought we would post a couple more from the coaches and even the Cobber SID! Enjoy.
The first one is with the Cobber SID and Kernel. I thought I would help Kernel out as he came out to the men's soccer practice on Friday to do his challenge.
Athletic Director and men's basketball head coah Rich
Glas also got into the spirit of the challenge. He went on
to challenge several of his former players.
The young assistant coach crew also took the plunge in order to help out ALS. First up was men's basketball assistant coach Grant Hemmingsen. He then went on to challenge the two young energetic assistant football coaches Brian Mistro and Aaron Willits.
Here is the video from Cobber defensive backs and co-special teams coordinator Brian Mistro as he gets a little help from his defensive backs crew.
We are still looking for newly appointed co-offensive coordinator Aaron Willits' video. Rumor has it that he is a little preoccupied at this time!
We hope you enjoyed the Cobber athletic staff getting doused with water.

Friday was filled with entering Cobber rosters into the system and cropping all the headshots for use on the website. We had three big releases throughout the day with the 2014 Cobber football team being announced as well as the women's and men's soccer teams. All three teams have several newcomers. Ben Schneweis and the men's soccer team has 16 new players on the roster this year and has the largest squad in recent history.

The cross country teams just checked in from Itasca State Park and we have posted a photo gallery of the teams enjoying some team bonding activities. Both teams went through the Camp Emmaus High Ropes Course and then did a little bridge jumping (not very high) to cool off from the hot weather.

We put the finishing touches on the Cobber football media day by posting links to the videos from the four different TV stations in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Each station does a great job of covering the Cobbers and we are blessed to have them cover our athletic teams.

We took some time to catch our breathe on Wednesday after a very hectic, and very long, Tuesday. We did manage to knock off our sixth video of the preseason as we turned our attention inside and spent some time with the Cobber volleyball team. Head coach Tim Mosser is entering his 22nd season at Concordia and he has one of his strongest incoming classes in awhile and the youthful exuberance was on full display during the afternoon practice.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the volleyball team's third day of practice during their preseason trek.
Aug. 20 - 2:52 p.m.
Wednesday morning and early afternoon was spent trying to do some leg work for the upcoming football program. We were busy updating bios and writing the senior capsules for next to their headshot. We also took all of the headshots for Cobber women's and men's soccer teams. The Cobber men's soccer team has 17 new freshmen and 23 total freshmen and sophomores on this year's roster. Ben Schneweis' crew has a very bright future.
This afternoon's post is to highlight a video from yesterday's football media day. The video is posted on the Inforum.com website and was shot by Trevor Peterson. He put a microphone on head coach Terry Horan and senior captain Domenic Fraboni and followed them around to get some candid sound. It turned out to be a great feature and shows all the inside jokes and small chit-chat that goes on during the down time.
The video is posted on the feature story page on the Fargo Forum site. Click on the link below to view the page.

19 - 11:58 p.m.
We finish off an extremely busy Tuesday by posting a picture and link to the Fargo Forum feature from Cobber football media day. As we stated before, the main focus of the day turned out to be QB Griffin Neal and his goals for the season for the Cobbers. The two-time All-MIAC player has a chance to become the first player in Concordia football history to throw for over 5,000 yards in a career. However, his sights are set on a MIAC title and a bid into the NCAA playoffs.

The Cobber men's and women's cross country teams continued their preseason training/team bonding trip at Itasca State Park in Park Rapids, Minn. This is the 12th straight year they have ventured east to Park Rapids to spend a week getting ready for the grueling season.
In addition to their daily workout routine, the Cobbers also find time to volunteer for a community service project inside the state park. This year they will be working on trail maintenance in the La Salle Lake State Recreational Area.
During the past 12 years the teams have installed deer fences, cleared brush, planted seedlings and removed burned trees.
Here are a pair of pictures from the team on Tuesday. The one below is of the group of athletes that ran 10 miles and overcame 66 hills.
This second picture is of the "7 mile" group.
We will be posting the Cobber SID "1 mile" group later in the week!
19 - 2:58 p.m.
Tuesday was also time for more headshots. After taking the headshots of all the freshmen, sophomores and juniors on the football team on Monday, we turned our attention to the seniors on the football team as well as the entire volleyball team.
The whole headshot process is quite an ordeal. There is a large chunk of time spent setting up the make shift studio in the gym and then sending each player through the picture process with their name tag so we know who is who.
The "split screen" image below will give you a good frame of reference for "during" the photo shoot (left side) and then "after" with the finished product which will be seen on the gocobbers.com website as well as in the Gameday programs.
Today's feature model was senior volleyball star Kynddyl Ross.
19 - 12:50 p.m.
The majority of Tuesday was spent getting for, and then coordinating, the annual Cobber football media day. This is always the first chance for the Fargo-Moorhead media to take an in-depth look at the team and figure out what the story lines will be for the year.
We always offer several players for the media to choose to interview and usually there will be between four to seven that get picked by different TV stations or the Forum. This year was different as the main focus was on senior quarterback Griffin Neal and his ability to lead the Cobbers into the playoffs for the first time since 2005.
We were on hand with our own video camera and got some "behind the scenes" footage of the different media members asking the players, and head coach Terry Horan, questions about the upcoming season. We finished off the video by showcasing the interview of Neal with Forum reporter Eric Peterson as they discuss Neal's wild two-tone Mohawk haircut that he sported for the first couple days of preseason but then cut before media day.
Monday, Aug. 18
The women's and men's soccer teams and voleyball squad all
kicked off their 2014 seasons on Monday. The teams were all hard at
work starting their two-a-day routine for the next week. We were
able to catch up with the women's soccer team and capture some of
the sights and sounds o their first training sessions. Kevi
Roos' crew just got back from a training trip to Costa
Rica. Concordia was 11-7-1 last season and earned its 11th
consecutive trip to the MIAC postseason.

We decided to use the still camera to capture some pictures of
the third day of the Cobber football preseason camp. We tried to

Sunday saw the Cobber volleyball, men's and women's soccer and
men's and women's cross country teams move back to campus. It was

Challenge and then challenged Bethel head coach Steve
