Preseason All-Americans

MOORHEAD, Minn. (7/31/18)---Concordia had a pair of seniors earn D3football.com Preseason All-American honors.

Alex Berg (Moorhead, Minn./Shanley HS) and Brandon Bundgaard (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead) both earned the top preseason award before the start of the 2018 season. Both players were place on the Preseason All-American Second Team.

The preseason All-American honor marks the second straight season that Berg has earned second team honors. Berg is a two-time All-MIAC First team honoree who led the team in solo tackles, tackles for a loss and quarterback hurries and was tied for the team lead in total tackles in 2017. He finished last season with 36 solo tackles and 39 assisted tackles for 75 total tackles. He also had 6.0 tackles for a loss, 5.0 quarterback hurries and 2.0 sacks.

Berg has 169 career tackles for the Cobbers and also has 4.5 sacks and 13 tackles for a loss in his 3-year career.

Bundgaard had a breakout season in 2017. He earned the job as the team's starting center in preseason camp and went on to start all 10 games and earn MIAC All-Conference First Team honors for the first time in his career.

Bundgaard was one of the leaders on the offensive line which saw Concordia lead the league in rushing yards and average 29.6 points per game.

Berg and Bundgaard will help Concordia kick off the 2018 on Saturday, Sept. 1 when the Cobbers host Neb. Wesleyan at 1 p.m. CC beat the Prairie Wolves 34-14 in last year's season opener in Lincoln, Neb. Concordia will then travel to Whitewater, Wis. to take on No.12-ranked Wis.-Whitewater on Saturday, Sept. 8.
