Horan Announces 2017 Schedule

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/20/17)--- Concordia head coach Terry Horan released the schedule for the 2017 season. The Cobbers will have a complete change in non-conference games as they will host Wis.-Whitewater, one of the top programs in Division III, on Saturday, Sept. 9.

"I am extremely excited about our agreement with Whitewater," commented Horan. They have always been the standard for championship football in DIII and to be able to play them in a home-and-home series is tremendous for our players and fans."

In addition to the home game against the six-time NCAA national champion Warhawks, Concordia will open the season by playing at Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 2. In Lincoln, Neb.

"Nebraska Wesleyan" is now in the Iowa Conference (IIAC)," said Horan. "They are and up-and-coming team and it will be a great first game on the road."

The Cobbers will open the MIAC schedule at home against Bethel on the weekend following the match-up with Wis.-Whitewater. Concordia will renew their rivalry with the Royals on Sept. 16 in the second of three straight home games.

Concordia finishes off its three-game home stand by squaring off with Gustavus on Sept. 30. The Cobbers will then hit the road for back-to-back games in St. Paul. CC will face defending MIAC champion St. Thomas on Oct. 7 and then play at Hamline on Oct. 14.

A home date with Augsburg on Oct. 21 and then an away contest at Carleton on Oct. 28 finishes off the month of October for the Cobbers.

Concordia will conclude the 2017 regular season by hosting St. Olaf in the annual Lefse Bowl game on Nov. 4. CC will finish off the schedule by playing in Collegeville against St. John's on Nov. 11.

"August can't get here fast enough," added Horan. The addition of Nebraska Wesleyan and Whitewater as well as a great home schedule of games will make 2017 another great season of Cobber football. The entire MIAC schedule will once again be a tough test from week to week and we look forward to the challenges that await us in the new season."
