Clifton Earns National Weekly Honor

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/06/15)—Concordia junior punter Eddie Clifton capped his career weekend by being named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

Clifton is the first Cobber to earn the national weekly award this season and the first player since 2012 when Brett Baune was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Sept. 12.

The national award follows Clifton being named the MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week. It was the first time in his career that he earned the conference weekly award.

Clifton earned his D3football.com Team of the Week honor for his career game against Bethel. Clifton finished with a career-high 48.8 yards per punt average in the Cobbers' upset over the nationally-ranked Royals. Clifton also connected on a career-long 67-yard punt on Concordia's second drive of the game which titled the field position from deep inside the Cobbers' territory to the Bethel 20-yard line.

Clifton had four punts in the game and none of them were returned past the Bethel 25-yard line.

Clifton will be hoping to continue his season success on Saturday, Oct. 10 when he travels with the Cobbers to take on Carleton in Northfield at 1 p.m.
