Cobbers Start 2015 Practice Slate On Friday

MOORHEAD, Minn. (8/12/15)—Concordia will kick off its 2015 season when they step on the field at Jake Christiansen Stadium for their opening practice on Friday, Aug. 14 at 3 p.m.

The Cobbers will report to campus on Thursday, Aug. 15 and have several meetings before they take the field on Friday afternoon.

Concordia is coming off its third straight 8-2 season with a 6-2 finish in MIAC play. It marked the first time in program history that the Cobbers have won at least eight games in three consecutive seasons.

Concordia head coach Terry Horan is entering his 15th year as head coach of the Cobbers. In his first 14 seasons at Concordia, Horan has compiled a 97-47 overall record and is on the verge of becoming only the third coach in Cobber football history to win 100 games. Horan has also accumulated a 74-39 mark in conference play..

The 2015 Cobber football team will be led by the outstanding receiving tandem of Brandon Zylstra (Sr., Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) and Jon Baune (Sr., Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS). Zylstra is a two-time All-MIAC honoree while Baune has garnered All-Conference Honorable Mention honors the past two seasons. The defense will feature MIAC All-Conference linebackers. Erik Bye (Sr., Moorhead, Minn.) and Levi Hintermeister (Sr., Garfield, Minn./Brandon HS). The duo tied for the team lead in total tackles last season.

The Cobbers return eight starting players on offense and five on defense as they hope to use their recent success to make a run at their 19th MIAC crown. One of the strengths of this year's team will be the offensive line where they return four of the five starters from a year ago including MIAC postseason award winners Jon Asprey (Jr., Brainerd, Minn.) and Josh Berg (Jr., Moorhead, Minn./Fargo Shanley HS).

As always, Concordia football practices are open to the public and media.

The Cobbers will start their 2015 campaign when they host Jamestown on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. CC beat the Jimmies 40-13 in Jamestown in last year's season opener.
