Well Represented On The MIAC All-Conference List

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/26/14)—Concordia was well represented on the MIAC All-Conference postseason award list. The Cobbers had 15 players earn all-conference honors for the 2014 season.

Concordia put up four All-MIAC First Team selections, seven All-MIAC Second Team honorees and four All-MIAC Honorable Mention award winners. The Cobbers have now had 55 MIAC postseason award winners in the past three seasons.

Nate Adams, Josh Berg, Christian Erickson and Griffin Neal all earned MIAC All-Conference First Team honors while Erik Bye, Levi Hintermeister, Alex McLean, Carl Nelson, Cody Pederson, Ben Wagner and Brandon Zylstra received All-Conference Second Team recognition. Jon Asprey, Jon Baune, Domenic Fraboni and Nick Leen were placed on the All-Conference Honorable Mention list. Steffen Morical was the team's representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.

The group of players helped Concordia to its third straight 6-2 record in conference play. The Cobbers also finished in second place for the third straight season. Overall, the student/athletes helped Concordia finish with an 8-2 record. It marked the third straight year that the team has won eight games. That is the first time in school history that a team has recorded three consecutive seasons with at least eight wins.

Berg and Neal were the team's selections for the All-MIAC First Team Offense while Adams and Erickson earned first team honors on defense.

Berg earns All-Conference First Team honors in his first season as the team's starting left tackle. He was one of the leaders of the Cobber offensive line which finished second in the MIAC in rushing yards per game and fourth overall in total yardage.

Neal earns All-Conference honors for the third straight year as the team's starting quarterback. He finished the conference season second in the conference in completion percentage (63.5%) and fewest interceptions thrown among starting QB's.

Neal finished off his record-setting career by throwing for 5,614 yards, tossing 47 touchdown passes and completing 63.7% of his total passes. All three career numbers are school records.

Adams picks up his second straight MIAC All-Conference First Team honor from his defensive end position. He was second in the conference in sacks in league games. He finished with 5.0 sacks in the eight conference games. He was also seventh in the conference in tackles for a loss (7.0) and had 30 total tackles in league play.

Erickson had a breakout season in his senior year. He tied for the MIAC lead in interceptions with four and had four pass break-ups as well. Erickson was one of the team's best cover men from his cornerback position. He had five total interceptions on the season.
