Fraboni Nominated For AFCA Good Works Team

MOORHEAD, Minn. (8/15/14)—Concordia senior fullback Domenic Fraboni made the list of nominees for the 2014 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Allstate Good Works Team.

Fraboni is one of 182 nominees from Divisions I, II, III and the NAIA for the 2014 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, the most in the award's 23-year history. As one of college football's most prestigious off-the-field honors, the award recognizes a select group of college football players committed to making a difference in their communities. Since 1992, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team has shown a spotlight on the countless "good works" and remarkable stories of service by student-athletes at all levels of college football competition. Award recipients represent the sports finest in terms of character and leadership in the community.

Fraboni was the leading rusher for all running backs for the Cobbers in 2013. He was tied for the team lead in rushing yards per carry for fullbacks and was second in touchdowns. Fraboni averaged 5.5 yards per carry in 2013 and scored five TD's during the season. He was in the top 15 in the MIAC in rushing yards, rushing yards per game and touchdowns in league games.

As good as Fraboni was on the field, he has been even more active off the field. Fraboni was a member of the NCAA Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) where he attended the NCAA national convention and helped the national SAAC committee with overall legislation/volunteer opportunities. He was also the Co-President of the MIAC SAAC committee in 2013-14.

Fraboni has also been the chair for the Concordia SAAC Mascot Challenge Campaign which raises money for the Salvation Army and has been a major volunteer for Special Olympics for three years. He has also been active in five other volunteer opportunities around the Fargo-Moorhead area. On campus Fraboni has been a volunteer organizer for the annual Cobber football blood drive and was voted "Mr. Cobber" by the Concordia student body as a student/athlete who excels on the field, in campus life and in the community.

From the nominees submitted by sports information directors across the nation on behalf of their schools, a special voting panel consisting of former Allstate AFCA Good Works Team members and prominent college football media members will select two 11-player Good Works Teams – one composed of players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision and another representing players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the NAIA. The final roster of 22 award recipients will be unveiled in September.

Concordia opens the 2014 season on Saturday, Sept. 6 when they travel to Jamestown, N.D. to take on the University of Jamestown  at 1 p.m.
