Adams And O'Brien Earn All-Region Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (12/10/13)—Nate Adams and Kenyon O'Brien were named to the D3football.com All-West Region Team. Adams was placed on the All-Region First Team while O'Brien earned second team honors. It is the first All-Region honor for both players.

It marks the second straight season that Concordia has had two players earn D3football.com All-Region honors. Last year Brett Baune and Tom Knowlton earned All-Region First Team honors.

Adams and O'Brien helped Concordia record its second straight eight-win season. The Cobbers went 8-2 overall in 2013 and finished in a tie for second place in the MIAC standings with a 6-2 league mark. The back-to-back eight win seasons marks only the third time in the 96-year history of Concordia football that the team has posted consecutive seasons with at least eight wins.

Adams continues to earn postseason awards. He was named the MIAC Mike Stam award winner earlier in the month. The Stam award goes to the top lineman in the conference. Adams led the league in sacks and tackles for a loss. In addition to the Stam award, Adams was also placed on the All-MIAC First Team.

Adams finished the season with 9.0 sacks and 17.5 tackles for a loss. He was in the top 40 of the nation in both statistical categories. Adams led the team in total tackles with 69 and had 46 solo tackles. He had a share of at least one sack in seven of the team's 10 games this year and had at least one tackle for a loss in all but one contest.

O'Brien had a stellar season as the team's starting cornerback. He finished the year with a career-high five interceptions and led the MIAC in "picks". He tied for 13th in all of Division III in that statistical category. O'Brien finished the year with 32 solo tackles and 20 assisted tackles for 52 total tackles. All three numbers are career highs.
