Cobbers Host Tackle Cancer Game vs. Bethel

Concordia's game with Bethel on Saturday, Oct. 12 is the Minnesota Football Coaches Association (MFCA)  "Tackle Cancer" game. Donation boxes and promotion of the event are being handled by the  Concordia Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Fans can make donations to the MFCA Tackle Cancer charity at each of the entrances to Jake Christiansen Stadium. Just look for members of the Concordia SAAC Committee and the
Tackle Cancer signs.

The Minnesota Football Coaches Association and the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund are excited for Year Two of

Tackle Cancer! Last year, Minnesota High School Football Programs raised over $120,000 to help find a cure for cancer. We are excited to announce that the Minnesota Gophers hosted a Tackle Cancer Game vs. San Jose State on Saturday, September 21. The MIAC has also partnered with the MFCA and will be hosting Tackle Cancer games this fall.

Cancer is a disease that has impacted all communities, most of our families, and many of our football teams throughout Minnesota. For the past 30 years, Randy Shaver has been there every Friday night in the fall covering high school football. This partnership seems so natural! Together, we are going to TACKLE CANCER.

The mission of the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund is to support the cancer community in Minnesota by funding research, prevention, treatment and other programs relating to the cancer community's needs. That's where you and your football team come in. We are partnering with the MFCA to challenge every MIAC football team to sponsor at least one "Tackle Cancer" game this fall.

People attending the game can make donations towards funding additional cancer research and together we can "Tackle Cancer." 90% of all dollars collected will go DIRECTLY to cancer research and treatments. Randy's foundation has raised more than $4 million to date but there's more work to be done.
