Undefeated Cobbers Jump Into Top 25

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/29/13)—Fresh off their win over No.21-ranked St. John's on Saturday, Concordia jumped into the D3football.com Division III Top 25. The Cobbers are ranked 23rd in this week's poll marking the first time this season they have been nationally ranked.

Buoyed by an undefeated record and a pair of wins to open the conference season the Cobbers move into the top 25 and are one of three MIAC teams to be nationally ranked. Bethel is the top-ranked league team as they are No.5 in the fourth poll of the season. Defending MIAC champion St. Thomas is sixth. Augsburg and St. John's are in the "others receiving votes" category.

The top 25 ranking marks the second straight season Concordia has been nationally ranked. The Cobbers were ranked in the top 25 after Week 4 last year in the American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) poll and then climbed into the D3football.con national rankings in the eighth week of the year. CC would stay ranked in the top 25 of the nation in the D3football.com poll for the rest of the season and were 18th in the final poll of the year. Before 2012, the last time the Cobbers were in the top 25 of the nation was in 2009.

Concordia is 4-0 on the year which is the second straight season that CC has started the season with four straight victories.

The Cobbers are currently outscoring their opponents 93-31 in the first half of play in 2013. Concordia has yet to trail this season and is averaging 29.2 points per game.
