Baune Named MIAC Offensive Player Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/12/12)—Senior fullback Brett Baune was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week for his three-touchdown performance in Concordia's 29-10 win over Gustavus on Saturday.

It marks the second time this season that Baune has earned Player of the Week honors. He was also earned the award on Sept. 10 for his 250-yard performance against Buena Vista.

Baune's three scores helped set the career touchdown mark at Concordia. With the trio of TD's against the Gusties, he jumped to 34 career scores. That is one more than the previous record of 33 held by current head coach Terry Horan. Horan set the previous record from 1985-88.

In addition to his record-setting touchdown mark, Baune also became the first fullback in Concordia football history to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season. He carried the ball 19 times for 77 yards against Gustavus and finished the season with 1,050 total rushing yards. That is also the fourth highest single-season rushing total in school history.

Baune was just one of two players in the MIAC to average more than 100 yards per game on the ground (107.0 average) this season. He ranked second in yards per game and rushing TDs, and third in total rushing yards.

Baune's rushing prowess helped Concordia finish the season with an 8-2 record. That is the most wins in a season since 2005. Concordia also finished tied for second in the final MIAC standings which is the highest league finish since 2005.
