Cobbers Break New Ground In National Rankings

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/22/12)—Concordia entered one national poll for the first time in 2012 and moved into the top 20 in another as the Cobbers climbed in the rankings following their win at Augsburg on Saturday.

Concordia climbed into the D3football.com national poll for the first time this season. The Cobbers are now ranked 22nd in this week's rankings after being in the "others receiving votes" category last week. CC received 79 votes in the poll which was one more than Cortland State who is ranked 23rd in the poll.

The Cobbers climbed into the top 20 of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll for the first time this year. Concordia is now ranked 19th after being ranked 21st last week. CC now has 249 points in the poll which is 48 ahead of Wittenberg in the No.20 spot and 54 behind Baldwin-Wallace in the No.18 spot.

Concordia is now 6-1 on the year and 4-1 in conference play. The Cobbers are tied for second in the league standings only one game out of first place. CC is ranked 13th in the nation in rushing offense and 17th in pass efficiency offense. Concordia is averaging 269.00 yards on the ground in their first seven games and has a pass efficiency rating of 165.60. The Cobbers are also in the top 25 in all of DIII in rushing defense. CC is ranked 21st against the rush – allowing just 90.29 yards on the ground per game.

The Cobbers have three games remaining in the regular season. Concordia will host Carleton on Saturday, Oct. 27 and then square off against league-leading St. Thomas on Saturday, Nov. 3 at home before finishing up on the road at Gustavus on Saturday, Nov. 10.
