Lage Named MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/15/12)—Concordia senior Seth Lage (Pelican Rapids, Minn.) was named the MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his four-return performance against Hamline on Saturday. Lage averaged 41.2 yards per return in helping the Cobbers beat Hamline 63-14.

It is the first conference weekly award for Lage and he becomes the third CC player to earn MIAC Player of the Week honors in 2012.

Lage's biggest return of the day came directly after Hamline had scored their first touchdown of the game. He caught the ensuing kickoff on his own 16-yard line and weaved his way 84 yards for a TD. It was only the second time since 2007 that a Concordia player has returned a kickoff for a touchdown. His 84-yard return for a score was the fourth longest in school history and is the longest in the MIAC this season.

Lage also made an impact on the game in his three punt returns. He had returns of 26, 16 and 39 yards and all three led to Cobber touchdowns. He averaged 27.0 yards for his returns and all three helped Concordia win the field position battle over the Pipers.

Lage currently leads the MIAC in average yards per punt return. He is currently averaging 17.2 yards per punt return (138 yards on eight returns).
