Cobbers Crack Top 25

MOORHEAD, Minn. (9/24/12)—Concordia cracked the top 25 of the American Football Coaches Association poll (AFCA) it was announced on Monday. Following their streak-stopping win over St. John's, the Cobbers entered this week's poll in the No.24 spot.

Concordia is currently 4-0 in all games and 2-0 in MIAC play. The Cobbers have scored at least 25 points in all four games this season and has outscored its opponents by a margin of 139-75. CC currently leads the conference in rushing yards per game (327.8 yards/game) and is second in total yards per game (445.5). The Cobber defense is also ranked second in the MIAC in both rushing defense (64.2 yds/game) and total defense (281.8).

The national ranking marks the first time the Cobbers have been in the top 25 since the first two weeks of the 2009 season.

Concordia also factors into the national statistic scene. The dominant rushing attack is currently ranked sixth in all of Division III and the rush defense is also in the top 20 as they are 16th in the nation. CC is ranked in the top 50 of the nation in six different statistical categories.

Concordia won't be in action until Oct. 6 when they square off against No.7-ranked Bethel in Arden Hills. The Royals are 3-0 on the year and will play at Augsburg on Saturday, Sept. 29.
