Knowlton Named To Preseason All-American Team

MOORHEAD, Minn. (8/02/11)—Concordia junior offensive lineman Tom Knowlton was named to the Beyond Sports Network (BSN) Preseason All-American Team. He was one of eight players in the MIAC recognized by BSN as a preseason All-American.

Knowlton earned MIAC All-Conference honors for the first time last season. He was the team's starting left tackle. Knowlton opened up huge holes on the left side of the line and helped the Cobber offense finish third in the league in both passing and rushing. The Cobbers averaged 212.5 yards per game through the air and racked up 202.0 yards on the ground in their eight conference games. Overall, the Cobbers were second in the MIAC in total offense (414.5 ypg).

Concordia opens the 2012 season on Sept. 1 when they play at Jamestown College at 1 p.m. The Cobbers and Jimmies have only met one time before. CC blanked Jamestown 26-0 back in 1947. Concordia will then host Buena Vista on Sept. 8 before playing at St. Olaf on Sept. 15 for the conference opener for both teams.
