Carlson Is D3baseball.com All-Region
MOORHEAD, Minn. (5/23/16)—Tim Carlson earned D3baseball.com All-Midwest Region honors for the first time in his career as he was placed on the All-Midwest Third Team.
Carlson had a career year in his senior season and earned the All-Region award after being named to the MIAC All-Conference Team two weeks ago. Carlson also earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors earlier in the month.
Carlson carries on the recent tradition of Cobbers earning D3baseball.com All-Region honors. He becomes the sixth Concordia player to earn the award in the past three years.
Carlson, the team's designated hitter for the majority of the season, finished the 2016 campaign with career-best numbers in hits, at bats, home runs, RBI, total bases, batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
Carlson helped the Cobbers to another 20-win season in 2016. Concordia finished the year with a 21-18 record which marked the seventh time in the past 15 years that CC has won at least 20 games in a season. Carlson finished his four years at Concordia by winning 84 games.
Carlson finished the year with a .354 batting average. He had a team-high 52 hits in his 39 games played. Carlson put up a .441 on-base percentage which was helped by 16 bases on balls. He also recorded 15 doubles, two triples and five home runs which gave him 86 total bases for the year and a .585 slugging percentage. Carlson had at least one hit in 28 of the 39 games and had 16 multiple-hit games. His top hitting output contest of the year came on the team's spring trip to Florida where he went 4-for-4 against Elmira. He also had six three-hit games during 2016.
Carlson played in 118 games in his four-year career in maroon and gold and finished with a .343 batting average. He collected 134 hits which are tied for 10th on the school's all-time hit list. Carlson also had 38 career doubles which is second best in program history.
