Red-Hot Vikings End Win Streak

AUBURNDALE, Fla. (2/27/16)—Concordia ran into a red-hot Augustana team and lost 15-4. The defeat ends a three-game win streak for the Cobbers.

Concordia is now 5-3 on their annual trip to Florida. Augustana has now won four straight and moves to 6-1 on the year. The Vikings offense has produced 48 runs during their four-game win stretch.

The Cobbers were done in by four big innings. Augustana scored three runs in the second, four in the fifth, four in the eighth and then three more in the ninth.

Concordia scored a pair of runs in the fifth inning and then put up single frames in the sixth and seventh.

The Cobbers pounded out 10 hits on the day which marks the fourth time on the trip they have recorded a double-digit hit total. Unfortunately for CC they are 2-2 in games when they have at least two hits.

Concordia scored its runs when Aaron Green doubled home Phil Kuball after Kuball hit a double with one out in the fifth. Jordan Domine then single home Green to get CC their only multiple-run inning of the game.

Turner Storm and Domie had the other RBI in the game for CC.

Domine, Kuball and Alex Sandahl had multiple-hit games for the Cobbers. Kuball was 2-for-5 while both Domine and Sandahl were 2-for-4. Domine upped his season average to .382 while Kuball is now hitting .33 and Sandahl is at .241.

Tanner Kluis started the game on the mound for CC. He went 4.2 innings and allowed six runs and struck out three. Concordia used three other pitchers. Sam Mattson was the most effective of the group as he gave up a single run on a single hit in the eighth inning.

Concordia will finish off its Florida spring trip when they square off against John Carroll in a doubleheader on Sunday starting at 12:00 p.m. It will be the first two games of the season for the Blue Streaks.
