Record-Setting 4 Players Earn ABCA All-Region Honors

MOORHEAD (5/20/15)---A record-setting four Cobber players earned American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Midwest All-Region honors it was announced on Wednesday. It is the largest group of players to earn the ABCA honor in school history.

Nick Bornhauser, Bryce Feia and Aaron Green add the ABCA All-Region award to go with the All-Region honor from D3baseball.com while Devin Johnson earns his first All-Region nod for the season and the second ABCA postseason award of his career.

The four players are the recent addition to a long list of Concordia players who have received the ABCA regional award. The Cobbers have had at least one ABCA All-Region performer in 14 of the past 16 seasons.

Concordia has now had 49 ABCA All-Region players since the 1983 season. Cobber head coach Chris Coste was a three-time All-Region award winner and football head coach Terry Horan was named to the 1989 ABCA All-Region Team.

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 6,600 members represent all 50 states and 23 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, Junior College, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.

Bornhauser earns his second straight Midwest All-Region First Team award. He will now be eligible for All-American honors in both ABCA and D3baseball.com.

Bornhauser finished in the top 15 of the nation in four different offensive categories. He was seventh in doubles per game, 11th in slugging percentage, 13th in doubles and 14th in RBI per game. Bornhauser recently signed a professional baseball contract with the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League.

Feia became the single-season save leader in Cobber baseball history in 2015. He finished the year with 10 saves for the season and was 15th in all of NCAA Division III in saves during the year. He finished his career with 23 saves and had a 2.49 ERA.

Green set the school single-season record for total bases. He finished the year with 100 total bases which was one more than head coach Chris Coste's mark of 99 in 1994. Green finished in the top 20 of the nation in home runs, home runs per game and RBI per game.

Johnson earns his second ABCA All-Midwest Region honor. He also claimed the award in his sophomore season in 2013. He becomes the ninth player in program history to earn multiple ABCA All-Region honors in a career.

Johnson had a pension for performing at his best in the toughest moments. He hit .600 (9-for-15) in the MIAC playoffs and had five RBI and 16 total bases. Johnson finished the year by hitting .412 overall which is a career best mark. He hit safely in his last 10 games and had at least one hit in 30 of the 35 games he played in during the season.
