Connelly Named To DIII National Team Of The Week

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/24/15)—Concordia junior pitcher Kyle Connelly parlayed his MIAC Pitcher of the Week award into D3baseball.com Division III National Team of the Week honors.

Connelly becomes the second Cobber player this season to earn the D3baseball.com national weekly honor.  First baseman Nick Bornhauser earned the honor on Mar. 10.

Connelly was almost perfect in his only outing of the week. He allowed only one hit and didn't walk a batter in his complete-game shutout. Connelly had his bid for a no-hitter ended with two outs in the sixth inning when he gave up a double.

Connelly faced only 23 batters in the seven full innings of work. He retired the first 12 batters he faced before a Prairie Wolf batter reached base on an error in the fifth. He then set down five straight before giving up the two-out double in the sixth.

Connelly is now 2-0 with a 4.76 ERA in three starts. He's allowed just 17 hits and three walks in 17 innings with 13 strikeouts.

Connelly and the rest of the Cobbers are in a holding pattern for their next game. Concordia had their doubleheader with Minn.-Morris scheduled for Wednesday, Mar. 25 postponed until a later date. CC's next regularly-scheduled game is Tuesday, Mar. 31 at Jamestown at 3:30 p.m.
