Bornhauser Makes MIAC Weekly Honor Twice As Nice

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/09/15)--- For the second straight week Concordia senior first baseman Nick Bornhauser has been named the MIAC Baseball Player of the Week.

Bornhauser went 7-for-8 in the Cobbers' final three games in Florida and finished the spring trip by batting an MIAC-best .643.  His stellar play at the plate has helped Concordia put up the best start to a season since 1995. The Cobbers are now 8-1 on the year.

Bornhauser continued his red-hot start to the 2015 season last week with two more incredible games at the plate. He batted .875 last week with an .899 on-base percentage and a 1.625 slugging percentage, as he racked up seven hits, five RBI, four doubles, four runs and a triple in just two games.

Bornhauser started the week with a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate in a 10-8 loss to MIAC foe Saint Mary's. He had three RBI, two runs and two doubles in the loss. Bornhauser's biggest contribution of the week came against perennial national powerhouse Rose-Hulman. He went 4-for-5 with two RBI, two runs, two doubles and a triple in the Cobbers 12-9 win over the Fightin' Engineers who last year went to the final game of the NCAA Central Regional and this year received votes in the two major NCAA Division III preseason polls.

For the week Bornhauser was 4-for-4 with runners in scoring position, 6-for-6 with runners on base and 3-for-3 with two outs. He was also perfect in the field on 19 chances, and has handled all 69 of his chances without error thus far in 2015. Bornhauser leads the MIAC in batting average (.643), on-base percentage (.706), slugging percentage (.929), runs (14) and hits (18), ranks second in doubles (six), triples (one) and is fourth in RBI (11) and total bases (26).

The team will now have an extended break before returning to action when they play at Nebraska Wesleyan for four games on Mar. 21-22.
