AUBURNDALE, Fla. (2/25/14)—Concordia got locked in a thrilling offensive battle with Franklin but unfortunately came up one run short in an 11-10 loss in a back-and-forth single nine-inning game on Tuesday in Florida.

Concordia came up with multiple-run innings on four occasions in the game and recorded nine total hits as they saw their overall record fall to 1-3.

The Cobbers got on the board first with a pair of runs in the second inning but then gave up three in the bottom of the third. CC would retake the lead with another two-run frame in the forth as the game kept going back and forth.  The Grizzlies then scored a single run in the bottom of the fourth and then five more in the fifth to go out to a 9-4 cushion. Concordia responded with a three-hit, four-run sixth inning to get to within one at 9-8. The two big hits in the inning were a double by Cody Rahman and a two-run triple by Kyle Kraemer.

Franklin tacked on a single run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 10-8 lead and then Concordia responded with two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 10-10. The Grizzlies then scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Cobbers had a chance to tie the game in the top of the ninth after Nick Bornhauser came up with a two-out double but he was eventually stranded at second.

Bornhauser and Jordan Gefroh had multiple-hit games for Concordia. Bornhauser went 2-for-4 and scored three runs while Gefroh was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.
