First-Ever Alumni Golf Scramble A Huge Success

MOORHEAD, Minn. (7/30/13)—The Concordia baseball team conducted its first-ever alumni golf scramble as former Cobbers enjoyed a day in the sun to talk about the tradition of the CC  program.

"It was a complete success," commented head coach Bucky Burgau. "From the registration to the last putt, the players and coaches really enjoyed the entire day."

One of the biggest highlights of the day was having former Minnesota Twins great Frank Quilici participate in the scramble. Quilici played for the Minnesota Twins in 1965 and then again from 1967-70. He was the team's starting second baseman in the 1965 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Quilici tied a major league record when he recorded two hits in a single inning in the series. Both hits came off of Hall of Fame pitcher Don Drysdale. Quilici went on to manage the Twins from 1972-75.

The scramble featured over 70 former players and coaches. The scramble took place at Greystone Golf Course in Sauk Centre.

"I couldn't have asked for a better day," said Burgau. "To get the chance to spend the day with former players and talk with a legend like Frank Quilici is great. I look forward to making this an annual event."
