First Three Innings Cost Cobbers

MAYVILLE, N.D. (4/25/12)—Concordia conceded 11 runs in the first three innings and lost 14-7 to Mayville State in the final non-conference game of the season. The Cobbers gave up six runs in the second frame and fell for the second time in as many days.

The loss drops Concordia to an even .500 at the year at 16-16. The Cobbers complete the season with a 9-9 record. Mayville State wins for the third straight time and improves to 30-16 on the year.

The two highlights of the day came from the Cobber offense. Brad Olson and Patrick Skogen hit multiple-run home runs. Olson had a two-run long ball and Skogen had a three-run blast to record his first collegiate roundtripper. Zach Hinkemeyer was the only CC player with more than one hit in the game. He was 2-for-4 and scored a run.   

Concordia used four pitchers in the game. Luke Kramer pitched 3.1 innings and did not allow an earned run. He gave up six hits and struck out four.
